Mark Mourell

President

I joined Robina Toastmasters just over a year ago. I wanted to improve my confidence in public speaking , especially my impromptu speaking skills, and make new friends. As President, I look forward to providing a supportive environment in the Club and a productive and fun year ahead for all members.

I joined Toastmasters in 2010. I was looking to broaden my speaking skill set and Toastmasters definitely has helped me with this. I love the environment at Robina which is genuinely welcoming to anyone that walks through the door ... most of all I love the humour that permeates this club!

I joined Toastmasters to improve my presentation skills, to have increased command over delivery when public speaking. My aim was to present with confidence so that the audience is comfortable listing to me speak. The opportunity to take on various leadership roles in a club environment to support more confident leadership in work and elsewhere, was also a reason to join.

I am recently retired, Social Sciences and Business Administration have been my fields of expertise. To maintain my passion for Australian geography, I have lectured on cruise ships and community venues presenting power point talks. I have a compelling ambition to present Australian history to refugee and displaced peoples in need. Including and progressive talks on Truth Telling of Australian 1st Nations history. My future plans are to along with my husband John of 40 years. to tour this beautiful land in 2025 in our new. Caravan.

I so enjoy Robina Toastmasters. They are a fun and interesting crew.

Like most people I realised that my public speaking skill were not adequate when I would find myself giving dull and unresponsive speeches. After lockdowns and work working from home I noticed my communication skills really regressed. This gave me the drive and courage to finally address my issues which lead me to join in April 2022.

I had a very severe stutter that made me introverted. Thanks to Toastmasters I am now an extrovert. A whole new world has opened up before me... that is why I joined Toastmasters.

I joined Toastmasters 24 years ago. I joined because I am extremely introverted and needed to build my confidence so that I could talk to people. I’ve stayed in Toastmasters because it not only built my confidence, but also the Toastmasters Program improved my leadership skills. This has been extremely useful in both my personal life and business career.
